The Bardia National Park is one of the most protected areas of Nepal and was established in 1988.
The majority of the park is covered by forests, with the perfect balance of savannah forests, thick cover of sal and grasslands. The park consists of around 835 species of vegetation. This park provides home to around 50 mammals, including one horned rhinoceros, wild elephants, blackbuck, Bengal tigers, swamp deer, Gharial crocodiles and mugger crocodiles. The exotic Gangetic Dolphin can be spotted in the Karnali river that lies within the park. This park provides shelter to around 405 species of birds, including Sarus crane, Bengal florican, Lesser florican, peafowl, bar-headed geese, chestnut-capped babbler, golden-headed cisticola, striated grass bird, silver-eared mesia, and jungle prinia.
The main attractions of the park are Bardia National Park Safari, Bardia Wildlife Tour, Bird watching, fishing and hunting.
Day 01: Arrival at Bardia
You will be welcomed at Nepalgunj airport and taken to Bardia National Park. It is about 2 hours ride from the airport. After check-in at the resort, you will be given a briefing about the tour. After having lunch and taking some rest, you will go for a cultural tour of ethnic Tharu village. Tharus are believed to be local inhabitants of the jungle. Then you will proceed to Park visitor center. Later in the day sunset view from the river is followed by dinner at the resort.
Day 02: Bardia Jungle Safari
An early wake up call and bed/tea coffee from the hotel staffs, you will be offered a breakfast. Then you will go for a nature walk from where you can enjoy oxcart ride or take a jeep back to the resort. After lunch, you will go for elephant back ride safari or a jeep safari where you will encounter various wild animals from the national park. After returning back from the safari, Tharu cultural dance show will be followed after the nice dinner.
Day 03: Bardia Jungle Safari
The next day at the park begins with the tea/coffee at the bed and the breakfast of your choice. Today you will be taken for a jungle excursion tour where you can encounter many aspects of the park. After lunch, we will visit wildlife sanctuary. Later in the evening, there will be discussion about the wildlife in the park.
Day 04: Departure
After morning tea/coffee there will be bird watching tour if the time permits. After that you will have a breakfast and you will be transferred to Nepalgunj Airport for your departure.
